It seems like the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) party is looking to cleanse itself of all who oppose the party’s alliance with the party. After suspending senior party worker Pranab Goswami on Friday for allegedly bad-mouthing the party in front of the press, the party has suspended two more executive members for allegedly opposing the AGP-BJP alliance.
As per reports, the two members, Niren Sharma, and Haren Bhuyan on Saturday had organized protests against the leaders of the party, including Ministers Atul Bora and Keshab Mahanta and had also burnt their photographs in front of the party’s headquarters at Jorhat.
AGP GS Kamala Kalita on Sunday sent letters to the errant party members to inform that they had been suspended from the party for a year on disciplinarian grounds.
It is to be mentioned that there have been many protests against the AGP leadership after they decided to back the BJP during the ensuing Lok Sabha elections after breaking the alliance on 7 January during the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill ruckus.
