BAKSA: Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) chief Pramod Boro turned down heavily on the newly-floated National Liberation Front of Bodoland (NLFB) for warning people against voting for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

&nbsp;

"The BJP party has been attacked. There is no logic behind launching an insurgent outfit to oppose a political party. After the emergence of another armed insurgent outfit, blood holi will commence again -- already we have lost 30 precious years to the armed movement," said Boro, whose United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) has forged an alliance with the ruling BJP party ahead of the ensuing polls in the state.

&nbsp;

"I have come across the publicity of the NLFB. Whoever has done this, has done wrong. Today, nobody here wants violence and an armed rebellion," Boro further stated, adding that anyone who wishes to express dissent must do so through "democratic means."

So today (12/10/2020) we have formed a new arms revolutionary group with nomenclature and style “National Liberation Front of Boroland” (NLFB),” the outfit said in a statement emailed to media, adding that it would re-launch a movement for a separate state Bodoland.

The new Bodo militant outfit has been formed reportedly under the leadership of Batha, who once again returned to the jungles after the Council elections.&nbsp;

NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) today extended the existing coronavirus detection, containment, and caution guidelines till March 31.

&nbsp;

"While there has been a substantial decline in the active and new Covid-19 cases, there is a need to maintain surveillance, containment, and caution to fully overcome the pandemic," the government said in a release.

&nbsp;

"While the active and new Covid-19 cases have declined significantly, monitoring, containment and caution must be maintained to completely resolve the pandemic," said the government in the release issued by MHA.

&nbsp;

To break the chain of virus transmission, all states and the Union Territories are advised to speed up the vaccination of the target population.

&nbsp;

The Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) recommended for the different approved activities were followed carefully. Therefore, as envisaged in the guidelines released on January 27, 2021, the focused approach on monitoring, containment and full adherence with the SOPs must be strictly implemented by the States and the Union Territories, the release added.

&nbsp;

The announcement comes after India recorded 16,577 fresh Covid-19 cases today.

&nbsp;

The infection tally of the country went up to 11,063,491. Number of death due to COVID-19 stands at 156,825. While the vaccination mark has reached 13,472,643.

DIMAPUR: The Government of India, Nagaland government, and the World Bank have signed a $68 million project to improve education the governance of schools across the state, and to enhance teaching practices and learning environments in select schools.

&nbsp;

The project would improve instruction in the classroom, create opportunities for the professional development of teachers and develop technology systems to provide more access to blended and online learning for students and teachers, as well as enable better monitoring of policies and programmes.

&nbsp;

The statewide reforms in schools would help about 1.5 lakh students and 20,000 teachers in the government education system in Nagaland.

Jagadish Bhuyan, the General Secretary of the Asom Jatiya Parishad (AJP), stated that the budget 21-22 does nothing to address the concerns of the poor.

"This budget will further widen the gulf between the rich and the poor in the country. Additionally, the budget will not resolve the problem of unemployment in the country," Bhuyan stated issuing a release.

As a gesture of solidarity among the Bodo community, the students had been invited to complete their college degrees in Kokrajhar, the headquarters of the BTAD.The students were welcomed at the Science College here on August 23, 2019.A cultural evening was organized at the community hall of the Science College in presence of MP Biswajit Daimary, members of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha, and other organizations.The students were felicitated with the traditional Bodo Aronai.The Bodo Samaj of Kokrajhar has conceptualised a free overseas education programme for the Bodos dwelling in the neighbouring country, Bangladesh. This move is aimed at enhancing Indo-Bangla ties.On the occasion, Daimary said, “India shares a strong-friendly relationship with Bangladesh and it is going to boost the economy of both the countries.”Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary said that around 2 lakh Bodos, Assamese, Garos and people belonging to other ethnic communities of Assam, are living in Bangladesh and they are supervised by a Development Council in Bangladesh. Bodo Students from Bangladesh Invited to Complete their College Degrees in Kokrajhar

<h4>Thursday, October 10, 2019:</h4>Congress MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi on Thursday vowed to stand opposed to the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, that is being proposed by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government. Kurmi further says that 1971 will be taken as the official year from the Congress as the Accord was signed under the watchful eye of then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.Kurmi further alleged that the BJP party is using the as a dustbin, and people are joining due to lure of money. The Congress' stand is the same as that of the Assam Accord, which was signed under Rajiv Gandhi.The MLA further contended the people who will be provided with citizenship under the new Bill will not get any rights, apart from voting rights, neither they will get respect.The Constitution of India, penned by BR Ambedkar, is secular. But the values are no longer being followed.
