The arrest of three youths in Goalpara district of Assam, who were allegedly inspired by ISIS, has created a situation of panic and unrest in Assam.
The three youths, who had allegedly planned to carry out attacks in Assam and also in national capital New Delhi with Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), were reportedly inspired by the dreaded Islamic State (IS), police said.
The 3 youths have been identified as Ranjeet Ali, Muqaddesh Islam, and Zameel, Pramod Singh Kushwah, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell), said.

After the militants had been nabbed, Additional SP of Goalpara, Amitabh Basumatary said, "A special team from the Delhi police had come here, and launched an operation jointly with local police. They successfully nabbed three suspects, with IEDs, timer, etc in their possesion."
It may be mentioned here that a team of Delhi police had been camped out in Assam over the past several days, to apprehend the suspects.

Several explosive devices, a kilo of explosive substance, and a dagger were also seized from their possession, reports said.
The arrest of these youths has sent shockwaves across Assam, where reports of ISIS-backed extremists infiltrating from neighboring Bangladesh are often carried in some sections of the media.
