Assam Congress Workers Burn Effigies of PM Modi and Amit Shah to Protest Chidambaram Arrest

Tinsukia, August 22, 2019:

The Congress workers of Tinsukia districts staged protests against the arrest of the former Union Finance Minister, P Chidambaram on Wednesday night.

The protesting Congress workers burned the effigies of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

One of the protesters said, “The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), since assuming power, has been torturing Congress leaders and not only Congress; the other parties' leaders are also facing the same dangers. All are in danger and nobody knows who will be picked up and against which false allegation.”

Another protester said, “P Chidambaram has been picked up based on the statement of a lady who herself is in the jail, and that too on the charges of killing her own daughter. Everything is a conspiracy by the BJP government.”
