Heavy rainfall has hit several parts of Assam, bringing life to a standstill in many pockets of the state over the past two days.
Karbi Anglong's Diphu town and Dima Hasao are among the worst-hit areas. The market area of Diphu town is waterlogged, as per reports.
Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Tuliram Ronghang visited the affected areas and took stock of the situation. MP Horensing Bey, along with Engineers Miji Kro and Protap Terang, also accompanied the KAAC CEM and assured full support to the flood-affected people.

The CEM also directed Superintendent of Police, Hamren and District Commissioner to issue expeditious relief measures in order to help the ones affected.

CEM Ronghang, while addressing the media, said that an amount of Rs. 10 Crore under MOS scheme had already been allocated for the construction of flood-control wall. It may be mentioned here that the protection of Lorulangso River from Diphu Govt. Higher Secondary Field to Diphu River is included under the City Infrastructure Development Fund (CIDF) amounting to Rs. 8 Crore.

Protection from Dharamnala River flood from Railway Bridge to Dharamnala Bridge is also included under the CIDF.
In Dima Hasao district, NH-54 has cracked following heavy rain and landslide. According to reports, about 100 meters of the road at Lalbong area that connects to Guwahati, was damaged.
Several parts of Assam have submerged after heavy rainfall hit the state. Several houses and market areas have been affected. Dima Hasao’s Hatikhali police out was also among the flood-hit areas.
