Assam: Man Beaten Close to Death by Murderous Mob in DarrangAssam

Darrang, July 13, 2013:

A shocking incident wherein a couple were beaten close to death that took place in Kirakara Sapori in Darrang district of Assam under Sipajhar Police station has gone viral on social media platforms.

It has been reported that Dhalpur based Ajmal Haque's son married a girl from their village without consulting her family. So, the villagers organized a meeting and beat the hapless man close to death then spread it on the social media platforms.

At first, villagers tied Haque's legs and hit him badly. Haque was also fined 50,000 rupee. Meanwhile, the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti, Darrang district unit demand proper justice for this mob lynching incident.

Mob lynching incidents are not all that uncommon in Assam. One year ago, two young souls — Nilotpal (Neel) Das and Abhijeet Nath (Abhi) — were taken away from us when they were clubbed to death by ruthless villagers in Panjuri at Karbi Anglong district of Assam.

Videos of the duo, who were lynched on the suspicion of being child lifters, begging for their lives went wildly viral and many organizations of Assam came forward asking for justice, but one year on, the yells have dried down. The duo were lynched in the countryside of Karbi Anglong while on on an expedition to witness the majestic and beguiling waterfall known as Kangthilangsho that has always been a tourist hot-spot over the years.
