Assam: Over 150 Vehicles Seized in Kokrajhar for Lockdown Rule Violations

Kokrajhar, April 19, 2020:

Nearly 150 two-wheelers and four wheeler vehicles have been seized in Kokrajhar town of Assam till Saturday in the district of the same name.

"We have checked the open movement of vehicles on the roads and accordingly detected and seized several vehicles by putting stern security deployments in the district",said a senior police officer in Kokrajhar.

A strict security vigil has been kept in vulnerable areas in three subdivisions: Gossaigaon, Kokrajhar and Parbatjhora as the Phase-II of the lockdown entered its 5th Day.

The Assam-West Bengal inter-state at Srirampur has been kept close for security observations besides deployment of strong security arrangements at district borders with Dhubri and Bongaigaon.

Security authorities both from Kokrajhar and Bhutan have deployed strong security forces to stand guard along the Indo-Bhutan border areas in the north of Kokrajhar district, Inside Northeast sources have confirmed.

All entry points in the Assam district have been put on strong security alert and police patrolling has become commonplace in the district amid the lockdown.

At the same time, various government agencies as well as NGOs have been distributing food grains to the needy in the region as the lockdown has caused great economic hardships to the economically unsound people.
