Assam Police has destroyed about 10 bighas of poppy cultivation in South Salmara district in Lower Assam.
A team comprising of Fakirganj Police personnel and South Salmara locals conducted a search operation regarding a poppy cultivation in the area on the basis of specific intelligence.

Led by the In-charge of Fakirganj police station, the team destroyed an area of approximately 10 bighas of opium cultivation.

Necessary legal action and follow up action is being initiated by the police and further investigation is on.
