All Assam Bengali Yuba Students’ Federation (AABYSF) staged a protest and burned effigies of former Assam Minister Nilamani Sen Deka over some allegedly "anti-Bengali remarks".
The AABYSF members protested against Deka in Goabari of Assam’s Baksa district. They chanted slogan against the ministers for the "anti-Bengali remarks".

Following this, a Hojai-based journalist has filed an FIR against the former Assam minister.
It has been reported that Nilamani Sen Deka had commented that the Bengali speaking people of Assam are trying to destroy the Assamese language and culture and that they are obstructing the development of Assamese community.
The AABYSF members also condemned United Liberation Front of Asom- Independent (ULFA- I) C-in-C Paresh Baruah for supporting Deka on his statements against the Bengalis.

The AABYSF has also threatened to stage massive protests in the future if the leaders make derogatory statements against Bengalis.
