A BJP leader in Assam's Baksa district, Dharmanarayan Das, attacked several people while they were enjoying Bhogali Bihu festivities on January 14, which was being observed as 'uruka' across the State.
The incident reportedly occurred at Guwabari under the Tamulpur Constituency. Das, who is an MCLA, reportedly attacked several people on the eve of Bihu over an argument at a community feast.

Reportedly, while a certain Sanjay Biswas was enjoying a sumptuous village uruka feast, he had a quarrel with the family member of Das. Later, after Biswas returned to his house, Das, along with his goons, turned up at Biswas' house, and launched a brutal attack on the man and his family, injuring several, including a woman.
Tragically, Sanjay's old and decrepit mother, Manju Biswas, was also injured in the attack, While trying to stop the attack, a man named Shambhu Biswas was also injured, reports said.
Sources have informed us that Biswas had initially argued with Dipankar Dutta, a nephew of the BJP leader, Das. As per reports, Das' gang verbally abused Biswas and his family and also burned down their properties when they turned up at his property.
Locals told media that Dharmanayan Das has also been involved in similar incidents of hooliganism in the past.
