In a shocking incident reported just after the conclusion of the Lok Sabha polls in Assam, some unidentified miscreants open fired at a Bharatiya Janata Party worker on Tuesday night in Margherita town in Tinsukia district of Assam.
The residence of Pulakesh Mahanta, who is a former Secretary of the BJP Mandal Committee, was attacked by the unidentified miscreants at around 3:00 am in the morning. Altogether 4 gun shots were set off and two bullets pierced Mahanta’s TATA Nano car with a registration number AS 12-6939.
The police informed that they received inputs about the incident and rushed to the site. However, no suspicious movement was detected and they are still investigating the matter. No casualties have been reported in the incident.
Mahanta mentioned that he moved out of his house when he heard gunshots and noticed his car had been damaged. He said: “This is a threat to my life so I have been given police security, but yes, in politics many threats come and we have to deal with them. Anyways, gunfire is a serious matter…it is no idle threat.”
