CAB Row | NESO delegation to leave for New Delhi today

Guwahati, February 10, 2019:

The North East Students’ Union (NESO), the umbrella student body of the Northeast has been protesting the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill ever since it was announced. With the passage of the Bill looming large at the Rajya Sabha in the near future, a delegation of the body is set to travel to Delhi today to garner support against the Bill.

AASU Chief Advisor Samujjal Bhattacharya, while addressing the media, said: “They (the BJP) are trying to get it passed and thus, we have only three more days to make our stand. We will meet political parties and appeal to them to oppose the Bill.”

A delegation from NESO also visited Delhi recently to meet Congress President Rahul Gandhi as well as the delegation of Ministers from Northeast including Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, who was camped out in Delhi to hold talks with senior BJP leaders and also political parties in order to oppose the Bill.
