The adventures of Dhunu, the adorable protagonist of filmmaker Rima Das' spectacular debut film, Village Rockstars, have now become a part of the English syllabus in Assam. 'Dhunu's Guitar', based on Village Rockstars, is now a chapter in Assam's Class VII English textbook!
Meanwhile, Das has taken to social media to thank the Assam education board for including her character in its English textbook. "I would like to thank State Council Of Educational Research, Former deputy director of SCERT Dr Mizo Prova Borah Baidew director of SCERT Nirada Devi Baidew, special thanks to Professor Padmini Boruah Baidew and all the members who initiated with Assam education department", she wrote.

Das also stated that this achievement has made both her parents extremely happy. "Of all my achievements, my parents are most proud of this one and this has made me very happy!"
It may be mentioned here that 'Village Rockstars' swept the National Awards in 2018 and has the distinction of being named as India's official entry for the Oscars. Bhantia Das, who assayed the role of the protagonist, won the best child actor award at the National awards.
The film has gone on to attain cult-like status in India and beyond for its simple narrative about a girl who aspires to become an urban myth. The image of Dhunu, with a straw hat over her head and a thermocol guitar slung across her shoulder, has already become an urban legend.
Rima Das has since gone on to direct another full-length feature film called Bulbul can Sing, which too has earned national and international accolades for the 38-year-old filmmaker from Assam's Chaygaon.
