Dibrugarh University Profs Accused of Pilfering Items from China Hotel Given Clean Chit

Dibrugarh, October 5, 2019:

The Dibrugarh University Professors who were accused of stealing items from a 5-star hotel in China, Landu Hotel, have finally been given a clean chit.

The statement issued by the hotel, reads, "This is to certify that Professor Ranjeet Tamuli, Vice Chancellor of the Dibrugarh University and a delegation of seven other academicians under NEFIT from Assam, India, stayed in our hotel from July 7, 2019 to July 10, 2019. They have paid all their respective dues to the hotel at the time of check-out on July 10, 2019. Further, there has not been any complaint of any loss of items from the hotel.

It may be mentioned here that one of the members of the delegation of educationists had allegedly stolen some valuables from the hotel in China.

A media report claimed that the Chinese government has summoned the delegate involved in the pilfering incident and sought explanation from the Indian government regarding it.

After the accusations surfaced, the Dibrugarh University Vice Chancellor said that the team had gone China for an educational tour and stayed there for some days and went to Beihang University as a part of the tour,” the VC added.
