Two young musicians, Digvijay Goswami, from Guwahati, and Akanksha Sethi, from Lucknow, are making waves after releasing their first song, a pop-rock composition called '
">Call Out to Me'. Their debut song has been released on over 150 streaming sites on the internet, and at the time of filing this report, has accrued almost 2,000 hits on YouTube within 24 hours of its release. So what makes these young musicians click? Let's find out! While speaking to Inside Northeast, Digvijay reveals that he met Akanksha while studying at Christ University, Bangalore. "However, we were in different streams, as I was in Economics, and she was in English..", adds the Guwahati lad.
"We initially met during music competitions in college, however, we did not get a chance to work together, despite know.", Digvijay says. However, the 22-year-olds would soon get a chance to work as a duo.
"There was a college event happening. After the performance got done, the organizers came and asked the two of us -- randomly -- to perform together", says Akanksha. "We used to know and respect each other as musicians, but then, we finally got to know each other, and we gelled in an instant", she adds.
The duo performed on and off for two years. "What brought us together is that we were always on the same page, musically, which made our musical bond special", adds Akanksha.
However, their college days would soon come to an end, and Digvijay got a lucrative offer at Harvard Business Review, and soon shifted to Gurugram in Delhi NCR. Akanksha moved to Gurugram soon, and the two were drawn together by the irresistible power of music yet again!
"After reconnecting with Akanksha in Gurgaon, I suggested to her that we should do a live gig together, and coincidentally, we were approached by Benazir, an event by Lines Production, for upcoming musicians. However, there was a catch. We had to perform originals", says Digvijay, continuing their tale.
That is how their first collaboration, the mellow and soothing song, 'Call Out to Me', happened. Elucidating on the components that went into making their first song, Digvijay said that he has a rare style of playing guitar, the finger-style. "However, I have a visharad in tabla as well, so my influences are eclectic. Same goes for Akanksha. She is a visharad in Hindustani classical music, with nine years of experience. Our first song is an acoustic-pop song, but we are open to experimenting across genres. Perhaps our next song will be funk, who knows?", he asks.
The duo reveals that they have many other songs in the pipeline. Speaking about the future that they envisioned as musicians, Digvijay says, "we want to cater to a global audience. Planning for an album in 2020, our dream is to perform at the NH7, 2020."
Digvijay says that he is open to exploring the 'Assam Connection'. "I would be excited to perform in Guwahati in the coming future", he adds.
"We want to come to Assam and Meghalaya and perhaps experiment with some of the folk music trends. We also want to shoot a music video there, as the Northeast is known for its beauty", beams Akanksha.
"We also want to experiment with different kinds of instruments, even Hindustani classical music, anything is possible", adds the Guwahati lad, Digvijay.
