It seems like Guwahati city too is in terror watch during these trying times amid acts of election-related violence and the 'Easter massacre' in Sri Lanka.
The threat of terror is again on everyone's minds after dastardly attacks in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday left 359 dead and injured over 500 others.
Now Guwahati city, which has known peace for the last several years, too has to deal with the threat of terror.
But residents of the metro will be reassured to know that the authorities have been taking proper precautions to deal with the threat.
The Commissioner of Police, Kamrup (Metro), Deepak Kumar, talking to InsideNE said that the Police department has sensitized all our police stations. Kumar further added that the patrolling parties have been deployed and expressed confidence that the border areas are being patrolled properly.
He further added that intelligence scouting is also underway in Guwahati and added that intelligence people have been moving around to "gather information."
Discussing the threat of terror during the election process in the country, he said that the North-East region has not seen any threats in the present day, but cautioned that nothing can be predicted since it has traditionally been an insurgency area.
Kumar added that since a blast had rocked Panbazar area, the authorities cannot take any chances and added that vital installations have been guarded.
