Speaking during the event of the 17th Bodoland Day that was being held yesterday at Green Field, BTC Secretariat Complex, Bodofa Nwgwr yesterday, BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary took potshots at the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) and NDFB.
“ABSU and NDFB, regarding the ST issue (of granting ST status to six agitating communities), have said that BPF and Hagrama should not be allowed to enter Bodo areas”, he said. “They have said that Bodo society should boycott me, but do they have the guts? ABSU should be boycotted first. After that, I too am ready (to be boycotted)”, said the BTC Chief.
“We said that the Rajbongshis and tea-tribes should be given ST status in 2016, but ABSU said the same on March 19, 2006. So now, ABSU should be boycotted”, he said.
“I thank Assam Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal as well as Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the remarkable development in the BTC area”, said Hagrama. He also thanked all communities who helped in the signing of the BTC Accord on February 10, 2019.
Slamming the Indian National Congress, he said “They stayed in power for fifteen years, but what did they give us? In contrast, the BJP in two and a half years of Governance, have given us many facilities.”
He also thanked the BJP Government for allotting Rs. 1000 crores to facilitate development in the region.
