Assam icon Zubeen Garg's latest track, 'Motherland Assam', featuring several prominent artists from the Northeast, serves as a tribute to the protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act that shook the region and later spread to all nooks and corners of India.

The rock anthem, that also features vocals by Anupam d Moran, John Phukan, Simanta Basumatary, Raaj J Konwar, Disha Dutta, Prerona Dutta, and Ambar Das, features heavy riffs and an unforgettable rhythm and melody by the band 'Cosmic Horizon'.

"Whenever I look around, all I see is unrest in my land...and all you people of every nation, can't you hear our SOS", sings Zubeen, in the rock anthem that laments the advent of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and urges the people to save "motherland Assam" that its "in filthy hands" through its lyrics.

The track, released on January 24, has racked up over 93,000 views on YouTube and is being widely hailed of Zubeen back to his rock roots.

The song is the brain child of Arup Dutta who has composed, produced, recorded, mixed and mastered the complete song.

Meanwhile, the song has been hailed for its accurate echoing of the sentiments behind the protests against the Citizenship Act. "We are here in this song.. and to the end.. we love our motherland. How's the josh", wrote one user, while another wrote, "This is the divisive reign. We must overcome somehow to secure our unity & identity. Great composition."
