The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) on Tuesday released its manifesto for the ensuing Lok Sabha election in Golaghat.
surprisingly enough, while briefing the media, the AGP announced that despite being in an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that is focused on implementing the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, the regional party will oppose it under any circumstance.
This stand of the AGP party raises an interesting question: Why is the AGP supporting the BJP in the polls despite the saffron party's insistence to enact the Bill? Does this not expose the double standards of the AGP which seems to have sacrificed its ideology for the sake of power?
It is to be mentioned that the BJP while releasing its national Manifesto announced that the party will be implementing the Citizenship Bill if voted to power.
