Itanagar, April 9, 2019:

In a case of pre-poll violence in Arunachal Pradesh, former Minister Jarkar Gamlim was allegedly attacked by violent youths in Arunachal's West Siang district.

Jarpum Gamlin, his brother, realeased a statement condemning the attack. "I strongly condemn the mob-attack on my eldest brother/former minister Jarkar Gamlin and his wife who went over to a relative’s home for dinner at Kamba. Physical assault on driver and damage to the car should have been avoided", he wrote.

"Three FIR has been lodged. I demand registration of all three FIR and immediate arrest of the identified ring-leaders including Nyamo Karbak, brother BJP candidate from 27/Liromoba Assembly Constituency, Nyamar Karbak", he added.

Jarpum has alleged that he too has been a target of the attacks. "A couple of days ago, this same mob of around 30-40 drunk youths attempted to man-handle me at Kamki and Hipin Karbak villages in West Siang district of Assam", he said.

It may be mentioned that both the brothers joined the National People's Party (NPP) after they were denied BJP tickets to contest the ensuing Assembly elections which will be held in Arunachal Pradesh on 11 April.
