The officials of the Kopili hydro- power project said that rescue operations will start when the water level will recede. "The experts are working on it. The rescue operation is yet to begin because the water is flowing in high speed, but the SDRF and NDRF teams are on standby. We are trying to undo the damage that has been done", an official said.

Meanwhile, the officials denied the allegation of the locals that no maintenance work was done for the pipeline which caused the accident.
Crores of properties have been damaged, and SP, Deputy Commissioner, Chief Executive Member and higher authorities visited the site of incident. A high level inquiry team has also reached Umrangso to enquire about the incident.
As of now, three switch gates of the reservoir have been opened to reduce water. The water has been flowing for more than 72 hours and if this continues, it is likely to cause massive floods in lower Assam.
