In the grandest election of them all, an estimated 14 crore voters from 91 Constituencies across the nation from eighteen states and two Union Territories headed to the polls on Thursday to participate in the largest carnival of democracy.
Tripura, where the election was being held for the Tripura West Lok Sabha seat, recorded the highest voter turnout in the entire country with 81.8% of registered voters heading to the polls to participate in their democratic right.
In the Tripura West seat, the BJP has fielded party General Secretary Pratima Bhoumik, CPI-M re-nominated its sitting MP Sankar Prasad Datta and the Congress has nominated Subal Bhowmik, who was BJP's Vice-President and had quit the party last month.
A total of 26,05,325 voters, including 12,85,618 women, are eligible to vote in the two Lok Sabha constituencies in Tripura. Over 69,000 first-time voters have enrolled.

It may be mentioned that the final polling percentage in all the states is expected to go up as voters were reportedly queued outside polling centers even after the official voting time.
