In fact, the area has been a popular picnic destination ever since its construction days. Yet, the bridge has been shrouded in controversy ever since its inauguration. On December 29, a child running across the bridge was rammed by a speeding vehicle and was hospitalized.
We have witnessed a strange phenomenon ever since the introduction of smart phones in our lives. It may be called ‘selfie fever’, in layman’s terms. In hundreds of incidents reporded worldwide, many of which have been recorded on livecam, many people have either been imperilled or have died due to carelessness while taking selfies on their phones. Because of the selfie craze as well as addiction to smart phones, parents are sometimes seen to be too busy clicking selfies to care for their children. Can the rise in vehicle incidents be attributed to this fad? To a certain extent it can. Along with the dangerous phenomenon of motorists speaking on the phone during driving, the craze of clicking selfies at tourist spots has also become a hazardous act which has resulted in incidents which could have been averted. We must raise awareness about this issue and ensure that people act responsibly when they visit these places to avoid such mishaps
