A self-styled Major of the Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagalim, Reformation (NSCN-R), Phangran Jugli, along with Manoj Kumar Mittal, a businessman, were apprehended by a SIT team of Arunachal Pradesh state police from Nyorch in Naharlag in Arunachal.
Phagran is a native of Rangran village in Changlang district, whereas Mittal hails from Margherita, in Tinsukia district of Assam.
The arrest of the self-styled Major Phangran Jugli establishes NSCN (R)'s growing presence in capital region.
The arrest was made following the receipt of information about NSCN (R) members indulging in extortion in the capital complex and moving about in a white Scorpio (bearing registration number AR01-L-2202).
During a raid, NSCN (R) commander of Changlang region SS Major Phangran Jugli resident
of village rangran, Chanlang along with Manoj Kumar Mittal, resident of -Margarita,
District Tinsukia (Assam) were apprehended.
Apart from carrying out extortion, they had come to the twin capital area to buy land for establishing a hideout, confirmed sources.
A case (CB-PS FIR No 07/2019/384/511, r/w 34 IPC) has been registered in the matter.
During investigation it was revealed that Phangran jugli is wanted in 5 dierent cases of Changlang district.
Further investigation is going on to unearth the details of conspiracy and arrest of the other
accomplice in this case.
