Pasighat police launched a dedicated investigation into a "blind" hit-and-run, and after 3 days, on Sunday, the culprits were behind bars.
The investigation was launched after receiving a written FIR from one Ning Rome to the effect that on October 10, a Tata Sumo hit Karan Vishnu Limbo at 2mile area Pasighat near Essar Petrol pump which resulted in the death of the man. The vehicle subsequently
The police statement reads that, after hitting the man, the vehicle fled from the spot. A case vide PSGT PS C/No. 197/19 U/S 279/304(A) was also registered.

During investigation, CCTV footage of 2 Mile Check gate at Pasighat was checked and the vehicle was seen fleeing from the spot. However, it was not easy to pinpoint the vehicle. Regardless, a screengrab was taken.
It had certain characteristics like blackened rear glass with a red line horizontally running, a rod like bumper protecter on both front and rear. Photo was circulating among the sources. It was confirmed by one of the sources that it was a vehicle that plies from Aalo in West Siang district to Silapathar, in Dhemaji district, Assam.

After receiving this info, records of Raneghat checkgate were checked, and it was discovered that one G. Tamang had crossed the gate on October 10 and the CCTV footage of that day confirmed the vehicle.
Accordingly,  he was tracked and info was received on October 13, that the vehicle was seen in the town going towards Assam. The vehicle was intercepted at Ruksin with the help of Ruksin Police and the accused Ganesh Tamang (21), was arrested on Sunday, confirmed Superintendent of Police of East Siang, Rajiv Ranjan Singh. Tamang is a resident of Sonitpur district of Assam.
Singh told scribes that, this hit and run case was a complete blind case which was difficult to crack. "As and when we received the FIR, we launched an investigation and were able to solve this case within 3 days", added Singh.
