Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written to Chinese President Xi Jinping offering India’s assistance to China to deal with the outbreak of the novel coronavirus. In his letter addressed to Jinping, PM Modi conveyed his condolences at the unfortunate loss of lives due to Coronavirus.
PM Modi also expressed his gratitude to the Chinese president for facilitating the evacuation of 647 Indians from China’s Hubei province who were brought back to India amid the breakout of the deadly epidemic.
India’s offer of assisting its neighboring country has come just when it was needed. It may be mentioned here that the death toll due to Coronavirus has surged past 800 in China and more than 37,000 people have now contracted the deadly disease.
The death toll has crossed that of the 2002-2003’s death toll following Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome. Coronavirus, which is believed to have emerged in 2019 at the Wuhan province in China, has now spread to more than 25 countries so far, with most deaths recorded in China.
