A large number of students belonging to Universities, Colleges, and student unions joined the student wing of the Indian National Congress, the National Students Union of India (NSUI) on Sunday at a function held at Congress headquarter Rajiv Bhawan in Guwahati on Sunday.
Opposition leader Debabrat Saikia, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Ripun Borah, MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi , former Minister Rakibul Hussain, and NSUI State president Jyotibikash Changmai attended the joint event.
Speaking to the media, NSUI spokesperson Rejaul Hassan said: “Many organizations have joined the party and said that they will work as per the ideology of Gandhi. The BJP's promises of giving jobs were mere election gimmicks, so more than 200 students belonging to B. Barooah College, Pragjyotish College, Guwahati Engineering College, etc have joined the party.”
