Amid the hue-and-cry over the NRC process, United People's Party-Liberal (UPPL) has condemned the 'prevailing situation' relating to the NRC updation in the state of Assam.
In a press note undersigned by party leader Urkhao Gwra Brahma, the party has expressed its "anguish" and "dissatisfaction" due to the fact that some complaints have been lodged blindly against "innocent common" people where complainants are not available in the hearings.
"The UPPL opposes such unnecessary act of harassment and appeals all sections to desist from misusing the right to objection", read the press note.
The party further demanded early finalization of the "correct NRC" so that such "human crisis" comes to an end as early as possible. The party also reaffirmed its stand to help genuine Indian citizens if and where they were under such trouble due to false complaints.
The party also strongly warned that miscreants are dragging the name of UPPL in the so-called conspiracy of harassing innocents by lodging false complaints. "The party clarifies that in the present crisis it has no involvement anywhere, rather it is always committed to stand by needy people always. Such forces are actually scared of UPPL - AIUDF alliance in recently concluded LS poll and want to damage that unity", read the communique.
The Party also heartily welcomed the recent talk between ABSU and AAMSU in presence of Jamiat Ulemma Hind on the matter and their understanding to resolve the crisis.
