The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has filed an FIR against Drishyamuni Chakma at the Itanagar police station, accusing him of cheating, forgery, and misrepresentation. The complaint, lodged on Monday, centers around Chakma’s bid to contest the 2024 state assembly elections for the 49 Diyun-Bordumsa Assembly Constituency (General Seat), which AAPSU and other groups have flagged for dubious credentials.
During a press briefing, AAPSU General Secretary Ritum Tali highlighted that Chakma allegedly fabricated documents to falsely claim permanent residency in Avoipur and secure registration in the electoral roll. This led to him obtaining an Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) with the number UBV2587045, issued by the Election Commission of India. Tali emphasized that only Indian citizens qualify for electoral roll registration.
Describing Chakma as a refugee and non-indigenous to Arunachal Pradesh, Tali pointed out that his registration as an elector in the 49 Bordumsa-Diyun constituency is a severe breach, amounting to a criminal act and conspiracy. AAPSU asserts that this violation renders Chakma liable for legal action under relevant laws.
Drishyamuni Chakma, however, has denied all allegations, maintaining that he has not engaged in any wrongdoing.
