On July 20, 2025, the Arunachal Pradesh Education Department issued transfer and posting orders for 203 teachers, including Primary Teachers (PRTs), Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs), and Postgraduate Teachers (PGTs), as part of its rationalisation initiative under the new Teachers’ Transfer and Posting Policy, 2025.
Following the transfer orders, a significant number of teachers filed appeals, citing medical issues, spousal postings, the education of children—particularly those in critical grades 10 or 12—and prior service in hard-to-reach areas.
A high-level departmental review of these appeals was conducted in September 2025. On September 24, the department issued a partial modification, retaining 45 teachers on compassionate grounds.

Education Commissioner Amjad Tak emphasised immediate compliance, stating that teachers whose appeals were not accepted must join their new postings without delay. Education Minister Passang Dorjee Sona issued a stern warning to those reluctant to serve in interior and remote locations, cautioning that failure to comply could invite strict disciplinary action.
The department’s directive underscores its commitment to ensuring quality education across all regions of Arunachal Pradesh, including remote and hard-to-access areas, while balancing teachers’ personal circumstances where justified.
