Topin Ete, an advocate by profession, has been elected as the BJP MLA for the Aalo West Assembly constituency in West Siang district with a significant margin of over 1,900 votes against his NPP rival.
Speaking to India Today NE, Ete pledged to restore the lost glory of the once vibrant Aalo town.
Aalo, formerly the crown jewel of the Siang district, acts as a critical gateway to the China-border town of Menchuka, which is poised to become a major tourist destination in Arunachal Pradesh.
The near completion of a two-lane highway connecting Aalo to the China border heralds a new era of connectivity and economic potential for the region. The BJP-led government's rapid development initiatives, bolstered by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's campaign visit in 2019, have further cemented the party's influence in the area.
Ete expressed his commitment to fostering growth in Aalo West across various sectors, including tourism, education, horticulture, agriculture, and healthcare. He emphasized that his leadership would ensure holistic development, positioning Aalo as a pivotal hub in the region.
