The Arunachal Youth Parliament 2.0 concluded today at the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, marking the grand finale of the “Year of Youth” initiative by the Department of Youth Affairs.
The two-day event engaged young minds in critical discussions on skill development, drug menace, environmental conservation, and cultural preservation.
The event featured a high-voltage debate on dams in Arunachal Pradesh, a panel discussion on APFRA (Arunachal Pradesh Forest Rights Act), and a Student Parliament with 14 higher education institutions participating. Pema Norbu Thongchi, Officer on Special Duty to the Minister of Sports, Tourism, and Education, attended as the Chief Guest, while Amar Sangno, President of the Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ), was the Guest of Honour.

Don Bosco College, Jullang, Itanagar, was awarded Best Presenting Institution, winning ₹20,000, while Gannon Miso of Jarbom Gamlin Law College was recognized as Most Promising Youth Leader. The first day saw a fierce debate on whether dams in Arunachal Pradesh are a catalyst for development or a threat to sustainability, with participants delivering well-researched arguments that captivated the audience.
The second day focused on student politics and skill development, with Pema Norbu Thongchi urging the youth to engage in policy discussions rather than just criticizing the government. He emphasized the importance of constructive dialogue and solution-driven participation.
The Arunachal Youth Parliament 2.0 proved to be a transformative platform, equipping young minds with the confidence and knowledge to shape the future of the state.
