Celebrating 50 years of democratic evolution, the Golden Jubilee of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly commenced with a vibrant Cultural Night at the DK Convention Hall, Itanagar.
The highlight of the evening was a captivating performance by renowned Indian playback singer Salman Ali, who electrified the crowd with his soulful voice.
The event opened with spectacular performances by local artists, reflecting the state’s rich cultural heritage. A specially choreographed traditional dance—interwoven with archival video footage—portrayed the growth of democracy in Arunachal Pradesh since 1975.
One segment of the evening was dedicated to celebrating the role of women in the state’s legislative history, highlighting their journey toward securing a place in the Cabinet through powerful on-stage storytelling.

Speaker of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Tesam Pongte, briefed the media about the 45-day celebration schedule which will run till August 18, 2025. The itinerary includes college orientations, youth engagement programmes, and other state-wide commemorative events.
“Our youth often talk about rights but tend to forget their fundamental duties as citizens,” Pongte remarked, stressing the need for awareness and responsibility.
He also revealed that President of India Droupadi Murmu has been invited to attend the closing ceremony on August 18. “If her schedule does not permit, we have a backup plan to invite the Speaker of the Lok Sabha to grace the occasion,” he added.
The Golden Jubilee celebrations aim to honour the legacy of Arunachal Pradesh’s legislative journey and foster civic awareness, particularly among the youth.
