Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has reacted strongly to a controversial remark made by the Chairman of the Indian Overseas Congress, Sam Pitroda.
Pitroda stated that people in the East of India resemble the Chinese, while those in the South look like Africans.
Rijiju has urged people not to dismiss this statement, given Pitroda's influential role as a mentor and advisor to Rahul Gandhi.
He suggested that Pitroda's opinions reflect those of the Congress party.

Rijiju criticised Pitroda for having a 'foreign mindset', implying that his ideas are not in sync with Indian culture. He also suggested that this mindset is shared by Rahul Gandhi.
Rijiju warned that Pitroda's comment could lead to divisive thinking, threatening national unity and integrity. He described the statement as 'bizarre' and expressed strong disapproval.
Rijiju also emphasised the diversity of India in terms of appearance, food, culture and daily practices, but argued that this does not warrant comparison with other nations.
He dismissed the need for an apology from Congress, describing such comments as characteristic of the party. He concluded by reiterating that Pitroda's statement should be considered as reflecting Rahul Gandhi's views.
