While a political debacle unfolds in Bihar with chief minister Nitish Kumar handing over his resignation letter to the Governor, the Congress party in Assam is facing a similar setback as several key leaders are set to join the ruling BJP government.
Amid this, multiple reactions have surfaced from different political corners including the Legislator of Assam's Sorbhog constituency Manoranjan Talukdar who has called the leaders moving from party to another ahead of the impending Lok Sabha elections, not a sign for democracy.
"There are some opportunists who switch parties because they take advantage in different ways, there is no place for ideology. The fact that some leaders are moving from one party to another on the eve of elections is not a good sign for democracy", said MLA Talukdar while talking to the media.
"AASU is a platform to supply the Congress and the BJP in political parties and this supply is going on and people are being supplied to different parties from them. Congress leaders Bismita Gogoi, youth leader Angkita Dutta, former AASU leaders Dipank Nath, Kamal Kumar Medhi are all opportunists who will be joining BJP today", added MLA Talukdar.
Surprised at Kamal Medhi's decision to join the BJP, the legislator from Sorbhog said that he was surprised to see Kamal Medhi too jumping the ship and joining the BJP who has been vocal about BJP's actions for a long time.
