AIUDF President and former MP Badaruddin Ajmal, on November 17, signalled a possible electoral understanding with AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, saying both leaders were in constant touch and “everything is possible” ahead of the upcoming Assam elections.
Ajmal said that the two “brothers” may fight together this time, adding that earlier the party had won four seats, but now it aims for “forty”.
After months of poor health and limited political activity, Ajmal declared that he is ready to return to the frontline.
He said the political climate was ripe for a contest and that the AIUDF intends to field candidates in around 35 constituencies, asserting that the party “will not allow the BJP to benefit”.

Extending support to the family of singer Zubeen Garg, Ajmal said he had always admired the artist. He recalled searching for Zubeen whenever he boarded flights to Mumbai and mentioned writing to the singer’s wife, suggesting that a medical college or university be established in Zubeen’s name.
Speaking about Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Ajmal alleged that the CM’s statements were often uncontrollable. He remarked that Sarma “might have taken the food and salt of Muslim people” and should not forget it, adding that political leaders may appear angelic during elections, but issues such as price rise remain beyond control.
Ajmal also expressed deep sorrow over the tragic bus accident in Saudi Arabia’s Madina, which claimed the lives of several Indian Umrah pilgrims, mostly from Telangana. He said that the deaths of forty people were heartbreaking and conveyed condolences to the bereaved families.
