Amid ongoing state-wide operations against suspected illegal immigrants, the Asom Jatiyotabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) Margherita Regional Committee staged a fierce protest at Ledo College Tinali along National Highway 315.
The protest, marked by tyre burning and highway blockade, was organised to demand the swift deportation of suspected Bangladeshi citizens allegedly settled in various parts of the 83rd Margherita Legislative Assembly Constituency under Tinsukia district.
According to AJYCP, thousands of suspected Bangladeshi immigrants have not only taken residence within Margherita but also in border areas adjacent to Arunachal Pradesh. The organisation warned that they would intensify their agitation if immediate action was not taken to remove these individuals.

The protest comes at a time when state-wide operations have reportedly led to the detention of over 2,000 suspected illegal residents in recent days.
AJYCP members later submitted a memorandum to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma through the Margherita Co-District Commissioner, urging decisive action and a clear stand on the deportation issue.
The AJYCP stated unequivocally that it will not remain a silent spectator to what it views as demographic threats to the region.
