Allegations of financial misconduct have surfaced in the Nilambazar Love Jihad case, with reports indicating significant monetary transactions. Amid mounting pressure, the chairman of the Nilambazar police station committee reportedly returned Rs 5 lakh through a 60-year-old woman.
The case, which has sparked widespread controversy, led to the registration of two FIRs in Sribhumi. One FIR named 11th-grade student Abu Siddiqui as the sole accused, while the other also implicated National Academy Principal Lutful Rahman and teacher Abida Akhtar.
According to sources, police station committee chairman Abhijit Roy (alias Raja), Nilambazar BJP Mandal President Abhijit Das, and AGP District Secretary Abu Talha Choudhury allegedly sought Rs 10 lakh to exclude the National Academy principal from the case. The demand reportedly involved an initial Rs 5 lakh payment, with the remaining amount to be settled once the case was resolved. However, details of the transaction leaked on social media, with viral posts exposing the alleged deal.
Following the revelations, law enforcement agencies intensified their vigilance, prompting Abhijit Roy to return Rs 5 lakh. Meanwhile, concerns have been raised about the potential derailment of the case, prompting BJP leader Shipra Goon and Hindu organization representatives to meet the Sribhumi police superintendent, urging authorities to ensure that justice is served.
