Bodo People's Front (BPF) President and former Chief of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), Hagrama Mohilary, along with party candidate Suddha Basumatary, have been actively campaigning in Sidli constituency for the upcoming bypolls.
The BPF is focusing on highlighting the unmet expectations of the people of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) since the BTR peace agreement was signed.
In a Interaction with India Today NE, Hagrama Mohilary expressed confidence in the outcome, stating, "If the poll is free and fair, our victory is certain." He emphasized that development projects in the region have been stagnating after the peace agreement, which had initially raised hopes for greater progress. According to Mohilary, the public of BTR had expected the same level of development under the Pramod Boro-led BTR government as they experienced before. However, he claimed that the current government has failed to deliver on those expectations.
The BPF, which has ruled BTC for 17 years long after BTC accorded is banking on the support of voters who are disillusioned with the current administration's failure to implement key development initiatives. Mohilary asserted that the people of BTR are dissatisfied and will cast their votes for the BPF to bring about the change they are seeking.
