In a raid on National Highway 17 in Gauripur, officials from the Deputy Commissioner of Taxes Department in Dhubri district seized six sacks of illegally transported tobacco, including mosquito net sacks, from passenger buses.
The operation aimed to curb tax evasion and the unauthorized transportation of valuable goods. Officials stated that illegal goods worth lakhs of rupees are being transported daily via passenger buses to evade government taxes.
These buses are allegedly being used to smuggle goods without proper documentation or shipment records.
During the raid, authorities intercepted a passenger bus named Bhowmik (registration number AS 15 C 7132), travelling from West Bengal to Dhakuakhana.
