Assam: DGGI conducts major GST evasion raid in Bongaigaon’s Jogighopa

The Directorate General of Goods and Services Tax Intelligence (DGGI) carried out a major raid on October 8 against a large business establishment in Jogighopa, Bongaigaon district, over alleged GST evasion. 

The operation also targeted the associated business, “Bhai-Bhai Steel,” in the area.

The raid, which began in the afternoon and continued past midnight, was aimed at examining documents and records related to potential tax evasion. Officials allege that the establishments may have evaded GST, which is worth several crores of rupees.

The operation was led by DGGI Superintendent Surajit Gogoi and conducted by a team of 30–35 officers. During the raid, officials refrained from disclosing any details to the media.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are expected to take further action based on the findings from the 12-hour-long operation.
