In a significant move to reclaim government-owned land, the Dhubri Revenue Department conducted an eviction drive on Tuesday, September 10 to clear illegal encroachments. The operation, spearheaded by Circle Officer Partha Pratim Barman, targeted unlawfully occupied land in the town’s Dag No. 2155 area.
The eviction, carried out with the assistance of JCB machines, aimed to vacate the land, which had been encroached upon by settlers. The operation involved key officials, including Lat Mondal and other members of the Dhubri Revenue (Sadar) department.
Barman highlighted that several government-owned plots in Dhubri have been illegally occupied over time. “Many khas lands are under unauthorized occupation. If needed, we will continue to conduct eviction drives to reclaim these lands for societal benefits,” he stated.
The administration remains firm in its stance against encroachment, reiterating that these lands may be required for future development projects aimed at improving public welfare.
