The second phase of the Assam Panchayat elections commenced today, with polling beginning at 7:30 AM.
Voters stood in long lines and cast their votes peacefully at Lokhi Ganj Model HS School and various other polling stations across the district. The election process is being conducted smoothly under tight security arrangements to ensure a fair and peaceful environment for voters.
A total of 1,465 polling stations have been set up to cater to the sizeable electorate of 10,52,452 registered voters spread across Dhubri Sadar, CDC Golakganj, and CDC Bilasipara.
Voter Distribution by Region:
Dhubri Sadar: 739,400 voters
CDC Golakganj: 177,324 voters
CDC Bilasipara: 135,728 voters

The voter demographic reflects a healthy mix, with 542,630 male, 509,807 female, and 15 transgender voters registered to cast their ballots.
Election officials reported that voting began on time and with enthusiasm, as people lined up early in the morning to exercise their democratic right. Local authorities and security personnel have been deployed at all polling stations to manage crowd control and maintain order.
Officials expect a high voter turnout, given the significance of Panchayat elections in shaping grassroots governance in Assam.
Polling will continue until the evening, after which ballot boxes will be securely transported for counting and result declaration as per the official schedule.
