The Assam Youth Congress has filed a formal police complaint against state minister Jayanta Malla Baruah, demanding a thorough investigation into his alleged involvement in the Gir Cow scam.
The FIR was lodged at Bhangagarh Police Station, with parallel complaints reportedly filed in other districts across Assam.
In a strongly worded statement, Youth Congress leaders accused Baruah of corruption and misuse of government schemes for personal gain. “Those who once defamed the Congress are now neck-deep in corruption. The Gir Cow scam has exposed everything,” said a Youth Congress representative outside the police station.

The party alleged that public resources meant for rural development and dairy entrepreneurship were exploited to benefit family members of political leaders. “These ministers are not serving the people—they’re serving their families. They’ve used government schemes to enrich their wives at the cost of the common man,” the Youth Congress charged.
The complaint calls for a comprehensive and impartial investigation into the alleged irregularities in the distribution and tracking of Gir cows under the state government’s dairy scheme.
The Congress has intensified its campaign across the state, using the scam as a rallying point to target the ruling BJP ahead of the upcoming elections.
