A special medical team from the Anatomy Department of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) has been closely monitoring the mortal remains of legendary singer Zubeen Garg, ensuring that his body is preserved for public homage before the last rites.
The Assam government deployed the team following the arrival of Zubeen’s body in Guwahati on September 21.
The coffin had earlier been opened by doctors to clean the body, administer necessary medicines, and maintain optimal temperature.
Sources confirmed that the body is now showing signs of bloating, prompting careful medical attention.
Doctors are also assessing how the singer’s body can be maintained for fans to pay their respects at the Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah Sports Complex in Sarusajai, where thousands are pouring in from all parts of the state.
The meticulous medical arrangements highlight the state government’s effort to allow fans to honour Assam’s iconic musician safely and respectfully during this period of mourning.
