Kaziranga National Park & Tiger Reserve has emerged as a stronghold against poaching under the proactive measures adopted by the Assam government, according to Field Director Sonali Ghosh.
"The government has prioritized the fight against poaching in Kaziranga and other rhino-bearing regions," Ghosh noted, highlighting a collaborative approach involving police intelligence and forest departments. She praised the synergy between these agencies, which culminated in a landmark achievement—a zero rhino poaching year in 2022.
“This milestone was only possible due to the stringent focus on preventing any poaching attempts through proactive management,” she added.
Ghosh also commended the state’s commitment to conservation, revealing that over 2,500 personnel were recruited for frontline duties in 2022-23. She described the government’s approach as "proactive and positive," underscoring its dedication to safeguarding wildlife.
