A woman severely injured in a road accident involving a NERIM institution bus in Boragaon on May 15 is currently battling for her life in the ICU of a city-based hospital.
However, her family claims that despite initial assurances, the institution has failed to offer any financial or moral support.
According to the victim’s family, representatives from NERIM arrived at the hospital on the day of the accident and promised to cover the medical expenses, requesting the family not to file a police complaint. But days later, the family alleges that they are left helpless, with no follow-up or assistance provided by the institution.
“The Winger vehicle from NERIM hit us. Some people came and said they would help. But now, they don’t even take our calls. They misled us,” said a family member while speaking to the media. “They promised to pay the hospital bills, but haven’t done anything. My mother is in the ICU with serious injuries, and we still haven’t been able to clear the bills.”

The family also said that when they contacted NERIM again, the institution claimed to have “surrendered the vehicle to the police for the sake of humanity.” The family has questioned this logic, calling it an insensitive and evasive response.
“Is this what they call humanity?” the family asked. “We are not asking for sympathy—we are asking for accountability and justice.”
Despite financial hardship, the hospital has continued treatment. The family expressed gratitude to Apollo Excelcare for not halting care despite unpaid dues.
The family is now demanding justice and transparency, and has reached out to the media in hopes of raising awareness and putting pressure on the institution to act responsibly.
As of now, there has been no official statement from NERIM regarding the incident.
