Malaria cases in Kokrajhar district have surged since October, with 2,096 cases recorded by November 25, a significant increase from 256 cases reported earlier in 2023.
Tragically, five deaths, including that of a 4-year-old girl, have been confirmed in the past week. The rise in malaria cases has raised serious concerns about public health in the region.
In response, the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) government, led by CEM Pramod Boro, has intensified efforts to address the crisis. Boro visited the most affected areas, including Lungchung, to assess the situation and engage with local residents.
He assured the public that immediate measures would be implemented, such as establishing seven health camps in six FRC villages to provide timely healthcare and treatment.

He highlighted that a series of remedial programs are being carried out to ensure better healthcare for the affected population.
The Assam government is also stepping in to support the efforts. Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has dispatched a team of expert medical professionals from Guwahati to assist in managing the outbreak and strengthening the response.
As the situation continues to unfold, authorities are working diligently to mitigate the impact of the malaria outbreak and prevent further loss of life.
