Raijor Dal has strongly opposed the Assam government's and BJP’s advocacy for celebrating Bihar Diwas in the state, calling it unnecessary and politically motivated.
The regional party, led by Akhil Gogoi, has strongly opposed the move, terming it politically motivated and an insult to Assamese sentiments.
Raijor Dal has questioned why Bihar Diwas is being observed in Assam when Assam Diwas has never been celebrated in Bihar.
The party alleges that such events are being encouraged by the BJP purely for electoral gains, to appease a certain voter base ahead of the upcoming elections.

Akhil Gogoi, a vocal critic of the BJP, has demanded that the practice be stopped immediately.
"There is no reason for Assam to celebrate Bihar Diwas, just as Bihar does not celebrate Assam Diwas. This is a clear attempt by the BJP to manipulate sentiments for political advantage," he stated.
Raijor Dal further argued that such celebrations are unnecessary and could lead to social and political discord.
The party has urged the BJP-led government to focus on addressing issues concerning Assam’s indigenous communities instead of promoting events that are seen as disrespectful to the state’s identity.
The controversy has sparked a larger debate on the importance of preserving Assam’s cultural heritage and whether the state government should facilitate celebrations of other states’ foundation days within Assam. The BJP has yet to officially respond to the opposition’s demands.
