Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has claimed that the Tata Group’s semiconductor project in Jagiroad, Assam, is progressing significantly faster than its counterpart in Gujarat.
Addressing the media, the Chief Minister said, “Tata has signed two projects together — one in Gujarat and another in Assam’s Jagiroad. Today, if you compare the development of both projects, I think Assam is miles ahead.”
He asserted that Assam has outperformed Gujarat by a wide margin in terms of project execution. “Assam has scored at least 50 percent more points than Gujarat today. You can visit the Gujarat project and also see the one in Guwahati, which is already in an advanced stage and will be able to produce chips next year,” he added.
The semiconductor Assembly, Testing, Marking, and Packaging (ATMP) plant in Jagiroad is part of Tata Group’s strategic investment in India’s electronics manufacturing sector. The rapid progress of the Assam facility is being viewed as a major milestone in the state’s industrial growth.
